DON’T Follow Your Gut!
Proverbs 3:5-7
In All Your Ways Acknowledge Him

1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my mitzvot.

2 For length of days and years of life, and shalom they will add to you.

3 Let kindness and truth never leave you— bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Then you will gain favor and a good name in the eyes of God and man.

5 Trust in Adonai with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Adonai and turn away from evil.
Reflect:
When we hit a difficult time in our lives, many of us pick up the phone and call someone we know. As we “vent” (i.e. complain!), advice will come which may or may not be sound counsel. Or, instead of calling someone, we might just rely on our “gut” instinct, doing what we feel is best.

While both of these actions are appropriate, they miss an important step—going to God first! God doesn’t want to just answer our prayers. He wants to give us His wisdom and discernment so we can continue to grow into fully devoted followers of Yeshua.

The best place to get these key elements of our spiritual growth and transformation is the Scriptures! They are “...inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for restoration, and for training in righteousness, so that the person belonging to God may be capable, fully equipped for every good deed.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 TLV). When we read them, we are not only hearing God’s voice, but learning and growing within His commandments in a way that will bless us and others. Let’s seek His wisdom in our lives today!

Prayer:
Father, please give me Your wisdom. When I’m not sure what to do, show me. Help me to trust You more every day. Amen.
