Joy & Sukkot

Some seasons you show up with a full heart. Others you show up empty, carrying grief you can't put down, wondering how you're supposed to feel joy when everything hurts.

This week we walked the fifteen songs the ancient pilgrims sang on the long, hard climb up to Jerusalem for Sukkot — and found that joy isn't a feeling you wait for. It's something you do, even in the dark, because the God who met every pilgrim on that road came all the way down to be with you, right where you are.
